If you are in anyway remotely connected to the tech world, by now you'd have known that Google today announced its next version of Android OS. So what does Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) brings to the table?? Here’s a list of the major highlights that Android 4.0 offers:
Option to use virtual buttons in the UI, instead of taking up capacitive touch buttons
  • Widgets are in a new tab, listed in a similar list to apps
  • Folders are much easier to create, with a drag-and-drop style similar to iOS
  • A customizable launcher
  • New phone app with visual voicemail functionality that lets you speed up or slow down voicemail messages
  • Pinch-to-zoom functionality in the calendar
  • Gmail has offline search, a two-line preview, and new action bar at the bottom
  • Swipe left or right to switch between Gmail conversations
  • Integrated screenshot capture by holding power and volume down buttons
  • Improved error correction on the keyboard
  • Ability to access apps directly from lock screen (similar to HTC Sense 3.x)
  • Improved copy and paste
  • Better voice integration
  • Face Unlock, a facial recognition service
  • New tabbed web browser, allowing up to 16 tabs
  • Browser now automatically syncs your Chrome bookmarks
  • Modern "Roboto" font
  • Data Usage section in settings lets you set warnings when you reach certain amount of use & disabling data when you go over your limit
  • Ability to kill off apps that are using data in the background
  • Camera app: zero shutter lag, time lapse settings, zoom while recording
  • Built-in photo editor
  • New gallery layout, organized by location and person
  • Refreshed people app with social network integration, status updates and hi-res images

So there you have it folks, ICS brings numerous improvements to Gingerbread & adds some spit shine. The "Galaxy Nexus" will be the first phone to be shipped with ICS sometime in December in Japan, Asia, Europe & USA.

Surprise: Apple starts selling refurbished iPhone 4 in India for INR 22,500 [only]                    #Published: 27/11/2011

Apple has literally baffled us with its sudden unique business strategies for the Indian market. Now, Apple will sell refurbished iPhone 4 in India for INR 22,500 with official bill and a 1 year warranty - straight ~10,000 less from the market price of the handset. Only 16GB models will be sold as refurbished devices and once the iPhone 4S sees light in India, Apple plans to discontinue iPhone 4 16GB and 32GB models and will only sell the 8GB iPhone 4 along with the iPhone 3GS.

Refresh your IQ: Refurbished phones are factory rebuilt phones which are sent back by the customers either due to physical damage or mostly due to customer dis-satisfaction from his 30-day trial period. These phones are rebuilt and sent back in brand new conditions from the company's factory. Hence, just don't misunderstand Refurbished just as a second-hand phone.

Motorola strikes back with their version of Galaxy SII / iPhone 4S Competitor - DROID RAZR #Published: 27/11/2011

Motorola strikes back with its all proof smartphone – DROID RAZR. Coming straight to the point, the most unique features of this smartphone are surprisingly more towards the externals of the phone, I mean the hardware:
  • World’s slimmest 4G LTE smartphone [I heard you – yes its slimmer then the Galaxy SII & the iPhone 4S]
  • Strong body made with KEVLAR [FYI - Kevlar is used for making bulletproof jackets]
  • Corning Gorilla Glass screen [Ensures protection against scratches]
  • Water resistant design [Can survive rain or beer/water spill]
Impressed with the exteriors? [maybe!] Internals might interest you more:
  • OS: Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread [ready for future upgrade ICS 4.0]
  • Processor: 1.2GHz dual core [TI OMAP 4430]
  • Display: 4.3” qHD Super AMOLED [960 x 540]
  • RAM: 1GB
  • Internal Storage: 16GB Internal Memory + 16GB External microSD card expansion
  • Camera: 8MP [Rear] with Auto Focus and LED capable of recording 1080p HD & 2MP [Front]
  • Size: 7.1mm thin and weighs 127g
  • Battery: 1780mAh [upto 12hrs 30min talktime]
  • Price: Available in India for INR 33,990
Bottomline: What we think – considering Galaxy SII a beast of all smartphones till date, we loved to compare RAZR with the SII and here’s what we got in a gist:

Looks, Display, thickness and Battery this is where the RAZR beats the SII hands down. The rest remains the same for SII & RAZR. Hope that helps you take some major decisions!
